Cumming repeated the answers given by him in writing to the charges, adding

that during the time that Dr. Ayres was visiting Officer of the Asylum be

found no fault with him (the accused), and referred to the favourable report

sent by Dr. Ayres to the Government on the 6th of June 1891. That Dr. Lowson

has always evinced an antagonistic spirit towards him.

In reply to the Acting Attorney General, stated:- Dr

Lowson has preserited for me.

In reply to His Excellency:- I protested at the time

against the order for not taking liquors into the Asylum.

Consideration was then postponed to enable Dr. LowSOD

who was on leave of absence, to attend, and Wardmaster Cummings was informed

that the charge of indecent assault(3) would be withdrawn.
